HoloLens Superimposition App Dev

This initial research aims to identify the workflow from design studies to a superimposed representation of it over existing conditions using the Microsoft HoloLens headset. Being able to directly visualize proposed changes to an existing site or construction work-in-progress can assist in coordinating and confirming design parameters are being developed in line with present conditions. The goal is to continue refining the visualization and to enhance the user interactivity of live modifications in the environment, such as opportunities to change materials, move objects, and document changes.

In attempt to further research the SketchAR app that I previously tested, I encountered Project Chalk, which is being developed by Vuforia. It’s the same Vuforia that has pioneered many of the augmented reality applications I’m exploring through Unity. AR Dev with Vuforia & Unity

Vuforia has proven to be a very powerful tool for developing augmented reality interaction with Unity and mobile apps. My tests of Vuforia with Unity have been really successful and the workflow is really streamlined. After identifying a model and a tracker, the Vuforia package from its developer portal provides the link to the developer account where the tracker is stored.
